Papertrey Peeps Challenge #2

For the second Peeps challenge, Aimes challenged us to pick one from several  packages of Dorset Cereals as the inspiration for our project. I chose the package on the right.  Thanks Aimes, I wanted to break open that pack of Terra Cotta Tile that I've had for over a month.  I debated whether the package was Orange Zest with a Terra Cotta Tile Leaf or whether the package was Terra Cotta Tile with a Pure Poppy Leaf. Why does life have to be so difficult? :)

I went  with the second option, so I used Terra Cotta Tile as my card base. I used Clean and Simple Fall to Layout #79 as the design of my card.

I stamped the flower from Beautiful Blooms in Summer Sunrise on Rustic White cardstock since that paper has more fiber and the cereal is Tasty Fruit and Fiber :) The center of the flower is stamped in Pure Poppy, punched out with a 1/2 inch circle punch, and covered with an epoxy dome sticker. The image is mounted on Smoky Shadow. The sentiment  from Autumn Abundance is stamped in Smoky Shadow on Bitty Box Basics in Summer Sunrise. (After photographing the card, I realized the sentiment is a little too muted. I should have gone with black ink for the sentiment.). Otherwise, I'm pleased with this card.
BTW, all supplies are from Papertrey Ink.
If you have the time, we'd love to have you play along with us. Check out the challenge here.
Wishing you a fabulous weekend,
Cammie

PTI Blog Hop

Hey everyone! Welcome to my stop on the hop to honor the amazing PTI Design Team.
Kudos to Nicole in choosing the PTI design team which offers such a wide range of styles. I could expound on the wonderful attributes of these designers, but I wouldn't be telling you anything you don't already know, and you've blogs to visit.

Nicole's challenge to find a project from the members of the design team that is especially inspirational was somewhat overwhelming to me. I mean, I find multiple projects daily that are especially inspirational. So how to choose just one? Well, I went with a card that has special meaning to me. Here's a hint--what is the title of my blog? I love those fragrant, delicate-looking yet hardy flowers with their happy faces. The first card I saw using the violet stamp set was Betsy Veldman's card on February 6, and I was in love with the stamp and with this card.

I love everything about this card. I love the vintage character, the colors, the sparkly petals, and the pearls. Of course, the pearls, I'm a Southern girl.

Here is my simplified version of Betsy's card (along with some violas I rescued from my garden this morning as it was snowing. Poor little things were freezing!)

I'm not going into all the details, but I will explain that I shaded the flowers with Copics and stamped them with Versamark Dazzle in Champagne which is not captured very well with my amatuer photography skills. However, when the light hits the flower just right, there is a nice little shimmer.

Enjoy your evening. I know I will because the design team members aren't the only ones to inspire me.

A Sparkling Birthday

Hello, blogworld! I hope your week is going well. Today's card is for Embellish Magazine's challenge.

When I saw the colors, I knew I wanted to use my new chandelier stamp, a gift from Peggy whom I wrote about here. Thanks again Peggy! I immediately pictured the chandelier in brown on subtle damask background. That was the starting point. The last step was deciding how and where to place the sentiment, and I'm not 100% satisfied with it, but I have to remind myself that second guessing and perfectionism don't always have a place in the creative process.

Thanks for stopping by,
Cammie

Roses Are Red, But Tulips Are Cool Too

Please excuse me, but I've one more Valentine themed card to share.(I must be more timely with my posts.)

When one thinks of flowers this time of year, one thinks of roses, the traditional flowers of love. But I love tulips in February. They are the harbingers of spring! So despite all those decorators who scream "NO SILK FLOWERS!!", I like to put some red or pink silk tulips in a white pitcher for a pop of color and hope of spring.

And so, I chose tulips for this card.

I used Vintage Picnic for the focal point. I stamped the basket on kraft and then stamped it with Background Basics:Hearts. I colored the hearts and handles with a Prismacolor pencil. The tulips were also colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with baby oil. After cutting the basket, I attached it with dimensional tape. I stamped BB:Hearts on Lavendar Moon with Versmark. The card base is Raspberry Fizz.

This hello from the heart goesto Peggy from An Artful Journey.

We met through Flourishes and PTI. Although, Peggy lives in Florida now, she lived in Knoxville for many years. She was in town this weekend, so we met on Friday. I had a wonderful time getting to know her and talking stamping. Peggy, thank you so much for your thoughtful gift. I'm going to ink up the stamp this week, but I'm going to have to force myself not to hoard that gorgeous pearl flourish.

Cammie

What's Your Cup of Tea? Challenge

I'm looking forward to another Flourishes release tomorrow night. To celebrate the release Flourishes is sponsoring this fun challenge. Here are the details:

"Let's be inspired by the container of your favorite kind of beverages! Can't live without your daily grind or brew? Look at the label and be inspired by the color or layout of the package. Crave your daily Diet Coke? Use silver and red as a color challenge for your card! The sky is the limit with this challenge - so grab your favorite drink and let that creativity flow! If you can, try to take a picture of the inspiration piece as well! "

I was sipping my morning coffee while reading these details , so the coffee container became my inspiration.

I chose the primrose from Flourishes Calendar Set 1 for the focal point and colored it with Prismacolor pencils and baby oil. After cutting it out with Labels 4 Nestabilities, I inked the edges with Smoky Shadow ink. I scored the card base near the bottom and added a little bling which I colored with a Copic marker.

To be honest I think I was also influenced by the weather. Soooo many gray days. Where is the sun? I hope it's shining where you are.

Thanks for stopping by,
Cammie

CPS 153

These first ten days of February have passed quickly! I wonder if it has anything to do with my morning check of Nicole Heady's blog to see the daily PTI anniversary announcement and the various contests that have been going on. With all the new items being introduced this year, I may need to find a part-time job or get DH to play more golf so I can justify my spending on stamping. Seriously, he doesn't mind what I spend. He really is a DH!
PTI is sponsoring this week's CPS sketch. It would be wonderful to win some of the new sets being released this weekend although I would have participated without the possibility of that added bonus.

Cammie

PTI "Paint" by Number Sketch Challenge

PTI's third anniversary festivities continue on Nichole Heady's blog with today's announcement of acrylic paint in those scrumptious PTI colors, their attendance at CHA this summer, and another fun challenge using the above sketch with a prize of a $100 gift certificate. Because my user name begins with C I had to use the palette below.

Here's my entry.

I used a kraft base. I stamped the cream scalloped piece with Beyond Basic Borders: Petal Power in Spring Moss. The Lemon Tart Bitty Box Paper is stamped with a sentiment from Damask Designs in Ocean Tides. The Spring Moss strip is stamped with Petal Power in Versamark and anchored at each end with an Ocean Tides Button.

PTI's Anniversary--Stamp Designer's Challenge Card 1

Papertrey Ink is celebrating its third anniversary with several contests and challenges. Today's challenge is connected to the amazing stamp designers of PTI. Each of the designers has provided an image to download which may be used to create a birthday card for PTI. This evening I was able to complete three cards. The first card uses an image by Dawn McVey

Papertrey Peeps Challenge

Woohoo! The first Papertrey Peeps challenge has been posted on the Peeps blog! Lori has challenged us to use buttons. Gotta love those buttons. While Papertrey has released three great sets incorporating buttons, it's good to look at some of the other sets with which you can easily incorporate buttons. I pulled out Turning a New Leaf, Beyond Basic Borders, and Beautiful Blooms and saw several possibilities. I chose Turning a New Leaf and used some Raspberry Fizz buttons as the blossoms on the vine.

I love to mix it up, so I chose two designs from Lemonade Paper Pad. Those paper pads with the smaller scale prints are perfect for cards; plus you get so many great papers at a very reasonable price. Were these papers enough prints for me? Oh ,no! I had to add that gingham ribbon.

For the inside I stamped a border from Beyond Basic Borders, and then using the smallest dot from Polka Dot Basics 1, I added the Raspberry Fizz dots.

Lots going on today with the Papertrey Anniversary Celebration. I hope you have time to make some cards and enter the contest.
