MIM# 162-Paper Srap Pie Charts

On this weeks's MIM video,  Melissa Phillips instructs us to use paper scraps to form a pie chart to use on our cards.

 As a professed paper hoarder, I had plenty of scraps from which to choose.  Remember Basic Grey Lemonade? Yep, I still have paper from this collection.  It was fun to use these scraps along with Papertrey stamps and dies.

April PTI Blog Hop

It's been a l-o-n-g time since I participated in PTI's blog hop, but this month's challenge, my mojo, my time, the moon, and the stars must have been perfectly aligned so that I got my crafty on and finished a project in time for the hop.

Here's the challenge as stated on Nichole's blog:"This month we challenge you to look at embroidered patterns in a whole new light!  Look through your clothes, Pinterest, home decor catalogs or even the inspiration I have provided above and find an embroidered pattern that speaks to you.  Using the colors and design of the embroidery, build your own stamped version using your favorite floral stamps or other images.  No stitching required!"

  I chose this beautiful ribbon-embroidered floral monogrammed pillow as my inspiration.

Using PTI's Turning a New Leaf and Embellished Elegance,  I stamped a set of 3 1/2 x 5 note cards for my sister Suzie.

In order keep the shape of the S somewhat uniform on each card, I  cut a stencil using the Silhouette Cameo. I used the stencil to trace the letter in pencil. Then I stamped the leaves and followed with the flowers. I like that each card's floral design is a bit different, adding to the handcrafted nature of the card set.

Easter Cupcake Kit

Hi! I'm back with another project for the Crafty Secrets April Linky Party.  This cupcake kit would be a delightful gift for your favorite baker. Who knows, you might score some yummy treats in appreciation of such sweet gift.

These adorable kids and bunnies are from Crafty Secrets SPRING CUT-OUT KIDS DIGITAL SET. I used  the Silhouette Cameo to print and cut the toppers and kids on the front of the fenced box which was cut from a Silhouette file.

These toppers and the Martha Stewart Gingham cupcake liners will add such a fun flair to cupcakes which I would love to photograph; however, I would then have to eat the photo prop. :)

Since I 'm fixing lasagna for dinner, I'm afraid I'll have to work off those calories before adding cupcake calories; meanwhile, I'll enjoy this kit as part of my spring decor.

Spring Banner

It's time to add a little spring freshness to the Hoosier cabinet with Crafty Secrets Spring Banner.

 I cut the bottom layers of the banner with the Silhouette Cameo and stamped with one my favorite script stamps. Then I added a doily die; for the top layer-the Crafty Secrets Spring Banner- I scaled the size down a little, printed, and then cut by hand.  Embellishments include leafy flourish die cuts and violets that I made using dies and Copics.

MIM #158 Stamping with Watercolor Mediums

Heather Nichols gives some great tips on stamping with watercolors in this week's MIM. Heather uses Gelatos to color her stamps, and I was tempted to buy some when I stopped in at JoAnn's. However, I decided to try a medium I already owned---watercolor pencils.

Using  a Pentel Aquash Water Brush, I dipped the brush it in water rather than fill the reservoir; I find with this method I can more easily control the amount of water. I used the wet brush to pick up the color from the tip of the watercolor pencil and then painted the stamp from Mini Blooms. By the time I had colored the whole stamp, the color had dried, so I spritzed the stamp with a mini mister and then stamped onto watercolor paper. I stamped the sentiment from Beautiful Butterflies in Bamboo Leaves Memento Ink. Using the Perfect Layers ruler, I cut a mat in Winter Wisteria and mounted all on a Vintage Cream card base.

I will definitely try more stamping using this method.

A Feminine Touch

A quick post with a pretty package to link to Silhouette's weekly challenge. The current challenge has a spring theme. Gardenias are some of my favorite spring flowers, so it was fun to make this gardenia from a Silhouette file by Jamie Lane.

The gardenia and a doily add a sweet feminine touch to a small striped gift bag.  The tag uses PTIs  Fillable Frames #9 and Mini Blooms.
