Halloween Greetings

A Halloween greeting with a touch of elegance. What a subtle way to "trick" someone especially with a little
"treat" like a gift card or small candy bar tucked in the pocket behind the sentiment.

You Are So Sweet

Hi everyone! How's the weather in your neck of the woods as Al Roker says on the Today show? Here it has been hot and  suffocatingly humid-- more like our July and August weather--weather where two minutes outside leave you "dewey"--a Southern woman's way of saying "sweating profusely".  While I much prefer being outside than in an air conditioned room, that just hasn't been the case, the last few days, so I've been inside enjoying the AC while getting crafty.  I made a card using this week's sketch at CPS.

Using  A Child's Year Cricut Cartridge, I cut the ice cream cones in different colors and then paper pieced. I stamped the kraft cone with the small diamonds from A Little Argyle with Versarmark. A cherry gem tops each cone. 
Gee, I wonder why those diamonds made me think of cool, cool  ice cream cones?

CPS 153

These first ten days of February have passed quickly! I wonder if it has anything to do with my morning check of Nicole Heady's blog to see the daily PTI anniversary announcement and the various contests that have been going on. With all the new items being introduced this year, I may need to find a part-time job or get DH to play more golf so I can justify my spending on stamping. Seriously, he doesn't mind what I spend. He really is a DH!
PTI is sponsoring this week's CPS sketch. It would be wonderful to win some of the new sets being released this weekend although I would have participated without the possibility of that added bonus.

Hey There, CPS 151

It's a winter wonderland outside this morning. It began snowing yesterday afternoon and continued into the night with some rain and sleet mixed in, and although it isn't snowing now, more is forecasted for later today. So, I guess you know what I'll be doing today....STAMPING!!! Oh, and eating the red velvet cupcakes I baked yesterday. Well, I guess if I'm eating those cupcakes, I'll need to ride the exercise bike. Well, almost a perfect day. :)

I pulled out Everday Button Bits again this week for this card.

Hey there again. I say again because as I was typing this post, the electricity went out around 8:00 a.m. I sat covered with my down coverlet by a window and read until it came on about 1 1/2 hour later. I didn't get internet service until noon.
Anyway, here is my CAS card.

Be Mine

For me, often the most time consuming part of creating a card is choosing a layout. There are so many possibilities; I have a hard time settling on one. So I decided I need to participate in more sketch challenges this year. That way I won't spend so much time choosing a layout. I can focus on stamps, papers, and embellishments. This card is based on CPS sketch 150. The inspiration for using bright yellow and red comes from a birthday card by Sherry Wright that uses this same stamp set, Sweet Bee by Cornish Heritage Farms, in the latest issue of Card Creations. Because this is such a linear design, I chose to place the heart at an angle. I attached the heart with foam dots.

If you've seen the latest issue of this magazine or visited the Paper Crafts website, you know the focus is on completing the inside of cards. Is it a coincidence that PTI introduced the first of their in and out stamp set this month? I don't think so. I often add a strip of coordinating paper, a small image, or stamped message along with a handwritten note. How do you finish the inside of your cards?



This stamp set is cling rubber, and I was having a terrible time getting the sentiment straight. After the first attempt had to be scrapped, I praticed stamping on lined paper, tryint to get the sentiment stamped straight. I stamped and stamped and stamped and stamped..... Finally, I gave up, took the original sentiment and cut it out, using a Spellbinders labels die. I inked the edges, and glued it on the panel after stamping the pussy willow image. Problem solved. I colored the pussy willows with a Copic marker E51 and lightened with the colorless blender. In the photo, they look the same as the cream paper, but in "real life" they are darker. I used Y15 for the bees . I decided I needed to add some red inside, so I added another honeycomb heart. And there is still some room to add a note for DH who will get this card for Valentine's Day and who will gush about how wonderful it is. :) Actually, he is very complimentary of my cards, but gushing praise...I don't think so.

Sweet Baby Chick and CPS

A quick trip to Hobby Lobby this morning to buy new B plates for the Cuttlebug with a 40% coupon resulted in a few more items. What a surprise! I got the plates along with a couple of dies that had been marked down and some fall ribbon that matches PTI's Scarlet Jewel. ( So much for the plan not to buy any more ribbon, except for PTI ribbon). I'm such a sucker for a bargain. I also got embroidery floss to match my latest PTI paper orders.

When I returned home, I had to choose between house cleaning and card making. Tough choice. LOL. So I finished my card for CPS (Sketch 125) which I combined with the Crafty Secrets Challenge on SCS. The challenge was to include stitching on the card. So I found the zig-zag foot and did my first zig-zag stitching on a card. I actually thought it was a little easier than straight stitching. When I'm straight stitching, I tend to go a little fast, and then my stitches get a little crooked.

The final product is this baby card.

I stamped the image from Crafty Secrets Easter Joy with Vintage Sepia (Versafine). I really like the sepia ink with Crafty Secrets vintage images even if you have to give it a little longer to dry. The sentiment is from Mixed Messages (PTI). After coloring the image with Prisma pencils and baby oil, I cut the image with Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities and layered on top of scalloped circle in Lemon Tart (PTI). The printed paper is Flower Patch (Making Memories). The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby, and the buttons are from both PTI and Paper Studio.
