WMSC #117

Good morning friends. I'm here to share a tag based on this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge with Kelly Schirmer providing this great sketch

Using four wonderful Waltzingmouse stamp sets, I made a Christmas tag.

After I die cut the tag and mat with my Cameo, I created the background using stamps from Nordic Winter, Text It, and Very Vintage Christmas. The sentiment  is from Seasonal Remedies. I stamped, fussy cut, and colored with Copics the trio of holly leaves and berries. I added a rusty bell with twine and twill ribbon for tying onto the gift.  The dimensions of the tag are 5 1/4 x 3, so there will be no chance of missing this under the tree.
For the next three days, I will be helping my sister-in-law with pricing and staging items for Saturday's small estate sale of my mother-in-law who certainly liked her collections (Let me say, I hope to never wash another greasy shot glass, salt/ pepper shaker, or souvenir spoon). Fortunately, the dog and pig collections didn't require heavy washing. Yard sales are not really my thing and definitely not my husband's who has sold many of the larger items on Craigs list., but I will enjoy spending time with my sister-in-law and niece and am glad I can help them during this difficult time.

Thanks for stopping by,

Hocus Pocus--WMSC #116

Hello, Cammie here with a card for the current Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.Ms Waltzingmouse, herself,Claire, has provided this week's sketch.
Using masking and fussy cutting, I created a  hocus pocus silhouette with Waltzinmouse Stamps Cameo Creations and Very Vintage Labels as well as the witch's hat from Crafty Secrets' Halloween Fun.  I aged the silhouette with a little distress ink and the mounted on  rolodex card.

The rolodex card is a Silhouette file, and the patterned papers are from Crafty Secrets digitial Halloween papers--love these papers!!!  The CD will be available soon. For now you can purchase the files at the Crafty Secrets Etsy store.

Hope your day is filled with magic,

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 113

The calendar and temperatures may still say summer, but I was feeling a bit fallish when creating a card for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 113 with this sketch by Lynn Mercurio.

With several layers of patterned paper from Lost and Found Two-Sunshine paper pad,I chose a bold sentiment from Say It Loud and a single embellishment. I coated some burlap with Mod Podge, let it dry, and then die cut. Not only does the Mod Podge give the burlap clean  cut edges, it also  gives some body so the burlap can be molded some. Be warned -- you will be seeing more die cut burlap here.

Supplies:
Stamps:  Say It Loud (Waltzingmouse Stamps),Stamped Stitches ( Hot Off the Press)
Ink: OceanTides (PTI), Expresso Truffle (Tsukineko)
Paper: Lost and Found Two-Sunshine (My Mind's Eye); Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate (PTI)
Other: Foliage dies(Spellbinders), Beautiful Blooms II #1 dies (PTI)

Fresh as a Daisy

Using Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #111 for inspiration, I combined frilly daisies and crisp houndstooth for this card.

I used the small houndstooth stamp from  Waltzinmouse Stamps  Heirloom Patterns  for the background and Victorian Frippery for the sentiment. The daisies were made with PTI's  Bloom Builders #3 die.

Check out the the WMSC blog for the wonderful cards by the design team and other players.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Christmas in JulyWMSC #106

Christmas products are on the shelves in Hobby Lobby, so I guess that means it is officially Christmas in July. And as with every year, I think I am going to have all cards and tags made well in advance of the holidays but I truly have a hard time executing my plans when it's 100 degrees. So I am quite pleased with myself that I made a Christmas card this week--I can give myself an "atta girl" for the little things. :)
I used the sketch from this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.
I used  these Waltzingmouse Stamps: Vintage Ornaments, Festive Foliage, and Heirloom Patterns.I did keep the colors somewhat light (my nod to the summer heat, perhaps?). I fussy cut the stamped images from Festive Foliage to layer between the embossed panel and the ornament. While I love all the dies on the market, I don't mind hand cutting at all; although, ---confession time--sometimes I must wear reading glasses over my bifocals. It's ok to laugh out loud now.  Needless to say, I only do this in the privacy of my home where only my husband can see me and comment dryly, "Nice look"

I'm off to shop and have lunch with my sister--love time with my sister!
Have a great day,

Bravo for Menswear--Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #89

Bravo for menswear! Recently, I pulled out some of  my warm weather "at home wear" --- shorts,  pants, and oxford cloth shirts--purchased from the men's section at Old Navy. This is only one reason I love menswear--inexpensive comfortable clothing.  Another reason for my praise of menswear is I've always loved the patterns associated with menswear--houndstooth, argyle, pinstripe--very classy.

I must shout  "Bravo" for the new background stamp set,Heirloom Patterns, from Waltzingmouse Stamps, which I used for this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge .  This stamp set includes some of  these classic patterns.

I chose to follow Renee Lynch's design closely for a CAS card.

With the crisp patterns I just had to stamp the sentiment at an angle. :)

Thanks for the visit,

WMSC 80 -A Simple Welcome

I used this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge for my inspiration for a little crafty time on Saturday.
I followed the sketch closely using patterned paper in muted colors,a clean and simple design, and one of my favorite Waltzingmouse images. This little cottage reminds me of a small print that I purchased in Ireland and sits on the desk in the study.

After stamping the image and sentiment, I distressed the edges and added a felt pinked edging to the top and bottom. I added a simple embellishment of  twine and a wooden button.

Remember, a charming image is lovely without coloring and many embelishments.

As always thank you for stopping by,
